NACOPHA has been actively engaging communities across Tanzania to enhance the HIV/AIDS response, focusing on inclusive strategies and community involvement. Here’s a roundup of recent activities:

1. Dodoma Youth Dialogue: NACOPHA’s Dodoma chapter organized a dialogue with middle youth groups, including youth from local communities, special groups, and students from the University of Dodoma. The discussion centered on identifying marginalized groups, strategies to increase the utilization of HIV/AIDS services, and the role of youth in ensuring the goal of preventing new infections by 2030 is achieved.Frida Musilim a youth leader from UNFPA, moderated the session

2. Lindi Stakeholder Discussion: On August 18, 2023, the Dar es Salaam chapter facilitated a discussion in Lindi with local stakeholders. The focus was on strategies to strengthen the sustainability of the HIV/AIDS response towards 2030. Attendees included government officials from the Regional Administrative Secretary’s office, religious leaders, educational institutions, representatives from the informal sector, and the Lindi Municipal Council.

3.Mwanza Adolescent Dialogue: In Mwanza, NACOPHA held a dialogue with adolescent groups, both living with and without HIV. The discussion aimed to identify high-risk groups left behind in the HIV/AIDS response, particularly in treatment and prevention.

4. Dar es Salaam and Coastal Regions Men’s Dialogue: The Dar es Salaam chapter also conducted a dialogue with men from the Dar es Salaam and Coastal regions. The focus was on various community perspectives regarding: 1) Identifying underserved groups in the HIV/AIDS response, 2) Community contributions to accelerating and sustaining the HIV/AIDS response, and 3) Learning from individuals’ experiences in enhancing community engagement to meet the sustainable goals by 2030.
