The National Council of People Living with HIV in Tanzania (NACOPHA) joins the global community in commemorating Zero Discrimination Day on March 1, 2022. This day is dedicated to promoting equality and human rights for all, and to eliminating discrimination in all its forms.
Dodoma Regional Commissioner Hon. Rosemary Sinyamule, who served as the guest of honor, praised the efforts of stakeholders implementing HIV interventions. She emphasized the importance of combating stigma against people living with HIV (PLHIV), stating, “I urge all institutions in the country to review and strengthen the implementation of HIV interventions in workplaces, including providing education, voluntary testing, and counseling.”
Hon. Sinyamule also highlighted the critical need to fully involve people with disabilities in the response to HIV. Her remarks underscored the necessity of inclusive and comprehensive strategies to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their status or abilities, receive the support and protection they need in the fight against HIV.
NACOPHA is committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of PLHIV and stands united with the global community in the fight against discrimination. This commemoration reinforces our dedication to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can access the care and support they deserve.
