In commemoration of 20 years of PEPFAR funding in Tanzania, on November 15, 2023, the USAID Mission Director, accompanied by a delegation from the Iringa Regional Government, USAID, PEPFAR, and USAID-funded IPs, visited the ITIKA group (Bakery) of PLHIV in Mwangata ward, Iringa Municipality. The visit aimed to witness firsthand the contributions of PEPFAR in response services through community activities.
During the visit, guests observed the activities of the ITIKA group and heard success stories from representatives of various groups, including PLHIV, youth, men, discordant couples, and the Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) representative from CHMT. The focus of these presentations was on the theme of reducing stigma in the community.
Participants also engaged in a discussion led by the USAID Mission Director, sharing insights and experiences.
The visit included representation from empowering groups across the Iringa region, showcasing the collective efforts in the fight against HIV.
