On July 6, 2023, the Deputy Minister for Policy, Parliament, and Coordination responsible for disability affairs, Hon. Ummy Nderiananga, visited Njombe Town Council. During her visit, she observed various activities carried out by people living with HIV (PLHIV). She also toured the avocado farm operated by the JIUKU group in Ramadhan ward to see their agricultural activities firsthand.
The Deputy Minister expressed her delight and commended the efforts of PLHIV, instructing the council to prioritize them for loans once the loan provision process is ready, acknowledging their significant contribution to the national economy. She also praised the National Council of People Living with HIV (NACOPHA), stating, “The HEBU TUYAJENGE project has done a great job and has even reached men. Now, we must continue encouraging men to get tested for HIV to know their status.”
Hon. Nderiananga was accompanied by the Council Director, the Deputy Chairperson of the Council, the Regional Community Development Officer, leaders from the Prime Minister’s Office TACAIDS, and NACOPHA.
This visit highlights the government’s commitment to supporting and empowering PLHIV, recognizing their vital role in economic development and the importance of inclusive health initiatives.
