CMAC Committee Visits Upendo kwa Wote Group in Chanika

On May 10, 2023, the HIV/AIDS Control Committee of Dar es Salaam City Council (CMAC) visited the Upendo kwa Wote group in Chanika to monitor their progress. The committee witnessed the group’s various activities, including cattle farming, maize cultivation, growing papayas, bananas, and vegetables, as well as fruit drying.

The committee was highly impressed by the significant progress the group has made, which has been supported by economic assistance through the 4-4-2 council loans. Acting Chairperson of the committee, Ms. Lucy Lugome, pledged continued support for the group’s efforts, stating, “We promise to review the requests made in the report to enable this group to receive further assistance to achieve your goals. We will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure you achieve sustainable development.”

The visit included experts such as the city lawyer, an economist, and a development officer, who were asked to find ways to uplift the Upendo kwa Wote group and use it as a model for providing assistance to other groups.

This visit underscores the commitment of the CMAC to support and promote community-driven initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and the fight against HIV/AIDS.
